Mahjong

Today, I am going to share a good activity for you to kill the time. That's Mahjong! It is a game for four players. Actually, it is also a gambling game. But, for me, I usually play with my friends just for fun and without paying money. In the game, each player is dealt either thirteen or sixteen tiles in a hand (depending on the variation being played). It is diffcult to learn through just the words. However, I want to tell you Mahjong is good for health! A recent study by doctors in Hong Kong concluded that extensive playing of the game can induce epileptic seizures. Studies by doctors have also shown in Hong Kong that the game is beneficial for individuals suffering from dementia or cognitive memory difficulties, leading to the development of mahjong therapy.

I didn't play with my friends for long time, so I must play with them during this summer! ha xddd

Different kinds of McDonald

I believe that McDonald is not strange to all of you. But the thing I want to talk is there are many different styles' McDonald in this world. In my Speaking and Listening class today, we discussed what differences between different countries. Although I don't like the "American style McDonald", I pretty like the "Hong Kong style McDonald". We have the totally different menus with the American one. The most favorite food that I like is "Shake Shake Fried". They will give you a small packet of seasoning(there are several kinds of flavors you can choose), you put it into a paper bag with french fries, then shake the paper bag until you think they are mixed. It is really delicious!! But they are not sale every day, just a period per year. And I know that they are on sale now!!! I really want to have one!

By the way, not only McDonald have different kinds of style, but also PizzaHut, KFC, BurgerKing, etc. As different countries have different styles!

Here is the official website of Hong Kong McDonald:
You could get more details about that. Enjoy it :)

When I was young...

One day, I saw an article in the internet and the title is "History Of Barbie". That article reminded me Barbie was my favorite. I used to play Barbie almost every day when I was young. I really really love it at that time! Everytime I saw one that I had not ever seen, I always asked my mom "Could you buy me one more, please?", even though I had already got three or four Barbies at home.(Ha) Also the clothes for Barbie, I bought a lots too! But after I was in secondary school, I didn't play it anymore. They became part of my history. And now, I don't ever know where are they gone. Maybe they were given to someone by my mom!

How about you? Have you ever owned a Barbie when you were young?

Easter

Easter is an important annual religious feast for Christians. According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days after his crucifixion. Many Christian denominations celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday (also Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday). For me, the most symbol of Easter is Easter Egg.(xdd) The oldest tradition is to use dyed or painted chicken eggs, but a modern custom is to substitute chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs filled with confectionery such as jellybeans. As I remembered, I used to painted the chicken egg when I was in primary school. That was quite interesting. Both chocolate eggs and plastic eggs are also my favorite!
By the way, Happy Easter!

"Sport Day"

Last two days, I really got many of funs. It seemed back to the time I was in high school. These two days reminded me the Sport Day during the five years life in secondary school. Normally, every high school in HK also has four teams which is identify by four color. We would be assigned in the first year. During the Sport Day or Swimming Gala, we would separate the whole school into those four teams. Everyone would try their best to get the point to their team. In my school, the cheer squad would be the main event while Sport Day. Although there is only one winner, everyone enjoy the day! As it is the day to let us show our endeavors. "Athletes' spirit always come first in any competition", competition is important, but, I think, friendship is more important than it!

Happy new

The day before yesterday, I got a happy new! That was really a happy new. There is an adage which is "You get what you pay for". Everyone is equality, no one is except. I know how much I pay, so I agreed with the result :) Although I am not the one who is the best, those who listen the new feel happy too. That's what I want and what I expect. I wish I could also try my best in the future!

Time pass so fast

Time pass by so fast, remember when I came here, it just liked the thing that was happened yesterday! However, it was already a half year of my American life. Everytime when we are looking back, it always seems so fast time has passed. Time passes so fast, we can't stop it neither can we hold on to it. When we finally have some time to reflect back, we realise how much time have come and go and left us with a tinge of sadness and happiness, and at times we wish we could turn back the clock and live life all over again and probably do it differently.

I used to hear someone talk to me, "People change too with the passing of time and what you think you like back then might not be what you would like today." It's really true. When we get one thing, we want to get the other one too. That is "human", so do I too!

Well, time to start new day, new week and new month tomorrow. Just do the thing that you want and don't be regret!

Jackson trip

I really had a good time yesterday. This trip reminded me many things. It seemed I back to the time that I travelled to China with my family. It also reminded me the school picnic. I really missed those time and I believed that this trip is going to be one of them too.

This time was the first time I went to a trip with so many different countries' people. That was really cool. Although we were tired, we all had a great time during each places.

I am looking forward to the next trip--Atlanta! :)

Hong Kong ` Part Three

Today I would like to talk about "Hong Kong English". The majority of Hongkongers with English proficiency tend to follow British English, while others may follow American English or a mixture of the two. It's not a big due when I was in HK. As our school allow us to use both kind of English. But after I came here to study, I began to know that sometime I can't use British English in American.

Both British and American spellings are in common use, with the British variant predominating in official circles. When referring to the same thing, British vocabulary is more commonly used, for example: rubbish bin instead of garbage can; lift instead of elevator; mark instead of score etc. So sometime I might confuse which one should I use.

By the way, I think my experience would help me to realize which one should I use.

Learning permit

Yesterday, I got my drive learning permit! That's mean I passed the paper test.(Actually it was tested in computer) So now, I can learn how to drive formally. I might take the road test in May, before I back to HK. I hope I could pass also! If so, I really proud of myself xddd

Coincident

The day before yesterday, I found something that was coincident! In my American Music class, we have to do project. My topic is Aretha Franklin. She is an American singer, songwriter and pianist commonly referred to as "The Queen of Soul". But this all are not the focal. When I was looking for her birth, it was same as me! Also, it was on my present day--March 25! I was so shocked! Everthing is so coincidence!

Last Sunday

I went to Casino again. That's right! I've been to Casino for many times. Of course, I am not go for gambling. I went to there for eat xddd They have many different kinds of food. You must get very full when you go there to eat. However, I started to feel bored to go there. The lucky thing is we don't need to pay for the bill. So I am willing to go even I got bored.

My dream

For my dream, you all may think that is common or normal, but I really want to do it in the furture. It is travel the world! As I think, the things that I saw and knew are very very little. This thought became stronger after I came the U.S. I don't know why, but I really feel that. There is an idiom which is " You can learn more from 10,000 miles road than reading 10,000 books" in Chinese. I am deeply in agreement on it. Something you must go to see or learn, then you can know profoundly. Also, you will find out it is much different between what you read from the book and what you learn from the read. So I want to go to see this world, all this word! By the way, either travelling or reading from the books, these two ways are for us to learn about this world!

"Curly Hair"

Did you all remember who is "Curly Hair"? The dog that my aunt kept in HK. According to my mom's "testimony", she is a naughty doggy. She always bites things, especially your heel, and she loves to run everywhere. I think sleeping is the only time she is at rest. The thing that lets my grandmother get angry is she always poops everywhere. They will hit her when she does these things. But I always tell my mom, because of she is still a little doggy, you need to teach her and train her more and DON'T HIT HER! By the way, I believe that she must brings lots of fun to us!

Take one step more

Many things are interesting, if you take one step more, everything can change. But we always wait for somebody to take one step more and we do nothing. Therefore, we lose many chances and we became regret of it. I am this kind of person. Even I always told myself I must treasure the chance, but it seems it was the excuse for me to evade.

Hong Kong ` Part Two

(The University of Hong Kong)

Hong Kong's education system roughly follows the system in England, although at the higher education levels, both English and American systems exist. The instruction is mainly spoken Cantonese, written Chinese and English, but Mandarin language education has been increasing.

Hong Kong's public schools are operated by the Education Bureau. At first, we have a non-compulsory three-year kindergarten(K1-K3), followed by a compulsory six-year primary education(P1-P6), a three-year junior secondary education(F1-F3), a non-compulsory two-year senior secondary education leading to the HKCEE(F4-F5), and a two-year matriculation course leading to the HKALE, or more commonly known as the A-level(F6-F7).

There are nine public universities in Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong is the oldest and the more famous institution.

For me, I finished the two-year senior secondary education. In other words, F5 (Form 5). We have two graduation in high school, the first one is F5 graduation and the other one is F7 graduation. In this two grades, we all have to take the big big big exam which is decide you can continue your education or not. So sometimes you all ask me did I finish my high school education, I can't exactly tell you YES or NO. It is because I graduated in F5, but if I didn't come to the U.S. I am still in high school, so... But now I think you all know more about it!

Chinese superstitions

Nowadays, many of us who are in Hong Kong won't believe any superstitions, but for the elderly, they do.
So I want to show some of Chinese superstitions to you all to see wherther you all have those in your country or not.

Just like Westerners believe that the number 13 brings bad luck, the Chinese is believe that the number 4 (as well as 14) has a bad connotation. This is because for Chinese, the number 4 (si) and “si,” which means “death,” are pronounced the same. On the other hand, just as 7 seems to be the designated lucky number for the Western world, the Chinese believe that the numbers 8 and 28 bring good luck. It is the same concept with the number 4!

The other one is about gift. Chinese believe that you should never EVER give a clock as a gift to a friend. The Chinese sound for clock is zhong. For most Chinese, one should never give it as a present because the pronunciation of “giving a clock” (sung zhong) to a person is the same as sung zhong, which means to bid farewell to a dying person on his or her deathbed. If you really want to give a clock as a gift to a friend, you should ask her to give back you a dollar as it just like she buys it herself. But we surely seldom give a clock as a gift.

Although many of us don't believe in these superstitions, we still don't do it in our life. But I think this kind of superstitions are quite interesting and now I want to hear about yours!

You just got 2 hours to feel unhappy every day

I remember that someone told me I just got 2 hours to feel unhappy every day. Why!? Let me tell you the example formula. We got 24 hours per day, about 8 hours for sleep, about 7 hours for work or study or something else, about 2 hours for eat, about 1 hour for bath or go to restroom, about 3 hours for watching TV or using the computer, about 1 hour for waiting something, for example, wait for transportation, so 24-8-7-2-1-3-1=2! Also, we can't borrow the time from tomorrow, that's mean, we just got exactly 2 hours unhappy time per day. But you can use this 2 hours on the other things.

Of cause I knew what he wanted to tell me. He just doesn't want me to feel unhappy anymore, so he limited the time that I could feel unhappy.

So now, I share this formula to all of you. Remember that, you just got 2 hours to feel unhappy every day! After that, be happy again since you can look for the other ways to think of each thing! Cheer :)

My dad called me yesterday and I already told my mom"Happy birthday"!
This year is different with last year since I can't celebrate with my mom. As I remember, I had made a cake for my mom by myself. Although it didn't look really good, I think my mom also love it!
Anyway, I want to say one more time to my mom.
"Happy Birthday!"

A memorable event in my life

A memorable event in my life should be the first time that I learn how to drive. Actually, I didn't ever think about drive before I came to here. The reason of that I think all of you can guess from the past entry, so I don't want to repeat again. But now, driving is in need. Everyone do anything at the first time must feel nervous, including me. Although I had been learnt for three times from now on. I still feel scare and nervous when I get on the driver seat. And I remember that when I learnt how to backward, I almost hit the pillar! If I can choose, I really want to be a passenger rather than a driver!

A short folktale in China

Today, I want to share a short folktale which is from China to all of you.

According to folktale, Nuwa, the goddess of create mankind, and she is the one who repaire the wall of heaven. Numa is a goddess who has the human head, but snake body. One day, when she passed through the Huanghe River, she thought that there was something missing in this world, but she couldn't think what was missing. However, when she was thinking by lower her head, she saw her inverted reflection in the river, and then she suddenly realize what has happened. It was originally missing the "human" just like her. So, she referred her face to make a clay figure by using the Huanghe soil, then she gave some special power on it. After that, human was created!

Happy Valentine's Day :)

In Hong Kong, today is Valentine's Day. People who are in HK do the things like this afternoon in IEP. We will give each other chocolate even if he/she is not your valentine. This festival became a day that is a exchange chocolate day (xdd). For some close friends, we will spend more ideas in it, which is mean we will buy or make the other special chocolate for them and sometimes with a small card.
By the way, I really have fun in this afternoon :)
Wish you all have a Happy Valentine's Day!

Busy life

My daily life is getting change. As I need to prepare several tests before I get into college. For me, it is a much hard work. This decision came suddenly and I just have a month to prepare one of the big test,SAT. I am not sure this decision whether is right or not. But I know that if I really try my best in it, I can do it! If I always tell myself it is impossible, then it will change to impossible even if I can do it. So from now on, I need to think the possible side and tell myself, I can do it!

Friendsssssss

Friends are important in our life. Everyone has their own friends to support them. Friends can share everything with the others; either the happiness or sadness. They are always here for you. Sometimes we don't need to talk so much, but they will know what's going on, just because they are your friends. Actually just a hug is good enough to comfort you when you don't feel good, especially from the one who is your friend!

STITCH! My lovely son :)

Stitch is a Disney cartoon character. It is the name of the genetic experiment 626. He is a really cute guy. If you ask me to think about one thing that relate to U.S., the answer will be STITCH xddd

The most thing that I want to do when I arrived here is to watch the cartoon of STITCH :) And he is the mainly reason that I want to travel all of the Disneyland. I have a friend moved in U.S. about 2 years ago, she told me I can always watch the STITCH cartoon here. She tried to record it for me one time and show me while we are having the web cam.(ha)

He just like my real son! If I have ability to open a exhibition center or "StitchLand" one day, I must do it and you all must be invited to visit!

PS.All of my friends knew how am I crazy in STITCH, so if you want to be my friend, you better know this important thing!

Hong Kong ` Part One

Today I would like to tell you some differences between HK and US(Mississippi). I would surround the transportation this time.

First of all, it is not an easy thing to find a parking space. As all of you know that HK is a small place, but there is many people! So you may need to park a little bit far away from the place that you want to go or you may have to drive two more rounds to look for someone who is going to leave. Also, we need to pay the berthage(the bill of parking space). These are the reason that why most of teenager don't know how to drive when they are in the age that can go to learn to drive.

Next, the mainly reason should be there are different kinds of public transport in HK, bus, minibus, taxi, subway, ferry, streetcar etc. It is very convenient. You can go to your goal without driving and it is much cheaper! That's why many of us don't know how to drive!

In the other hands, we have to drive to everywhere in US. So student can have the paper test at high school and most of them will take the test! Then their parents will teach them how to drive, but in HK, we can't be taught by our parents. We need to go to diving school.

Now I have to learn how to drive as I may spend few more years in here, but I surely love to be a passenger more than a driver!

Wrong decision!?

I was in a bit of a mood this afternoon. It was because I found out something that I have to make the decision and that decision was much serious for me. I didn't want to make the wrong decision that I may feel regret in the future, but I have to decide as soon as I can.

However, I am better now. I always remind myself there are different side in one thing. If you would feel better from the other side, why don't you just think from that side? Everything is no impossible!

Lovely doggy

Is it cute? She is my aunt's new dog that was bought at last week and she has just 3 months old! They called her "curly hair". (I just translate from Chinese) It is not her real name, they are thinking other good name for her. Do you all have some special names suggest for me?
Did you pay attention in the second photo? The "clothes" that is being worn is a towel! They treat her just like a human baby! I can sure that it must be lots of fun in the future! I am looking forward to play with her one day!
ps. There are some more photos about "curly hair", if you want to see more, you can go to my FACEBOOK or ask me to show you. I am glad to do it! :)

Good day

Today is a good day! It is worth of me to share my happiness.
The first thing is the weather is good. I am a person whose mood is relation with the weather. That's mean if the weather is bad, my mood is bad too. So if someone ask me to do something, he/she better not ask me in a rainny day or some bad weather days. Today is a sunny day and is not cold! I love it very much!
The second thing is I met some new friends in IEP. They are from Taiwan. It is the best thing for people who are studying in other countries to meet some people that you can understand and speak their language.
I hope the good weather can keep going on!
